Frequently Asked Questions about
The Bowen Technique
After two years of intensive study & practical work, I qualified in the Bowen Technique in 2016. I have since continued my training when I qualified in the Fascia Bowen course in 2024

What is Bowen?
The Bowen Technique (aka Bowen), is a gentle, non- invasive manual therapy that focuses on the body's soft connective tissue, known as the Fascia.
Unlike deep tissue massage or chiropractic adjustments, it uses very light pressure and a specific "rolling" move to stimulate the nervous system.
A session consists of a sequence of small, precise movements across the body.

Why are there breaks?

We often gives 2 -5 minute breaks during a treatment to give your brain and nervous system time to "process and digest" the signals sent by the moves made.

Do I need one treatment a week for three weeks?
It is highly recommended to do so, as the body needs time to adjust to the changes. With each treatment, more work is applied to give the maximum benefits.
Of course you don't have to, but you won't get the results you could get with 3 treatments. There is no such thing as a quick fix.

signals sent by the treatment. You can't rush Bowen. Fascia Bowen can be used during these breaks to support the treatment.

What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that is loose fitting. Tracksuits and T.Shirt or leggings work well.
